Reading Reflection No.1

Reading Reflection No.1 1) You read about an entrepreneur:  I chose to read about Coco Chanel, written by Lisa Chaney ·         What surprised you the most? What surprised me the most about Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel was her rough background. She is known today for her talents of fashion, but many people may not realize how much troubles she went through and engaged in through adulthood ·         What about the entrepreneur did you most admire? What I admire most about Coco Chanel is despite all the hardships she faced and went through; she was able to do something positive with her life and talents and has made a mark still till this day in the fashion industry ·         What about the entrepreneur did you  least  admire? What I do not admire about her is the choices she decided to make in life, some being not so smart and an activity I would ever pers...

Halfway Reflection

Halfway Reflection 1) Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?  o     For this course, I truly believe to be successful you need to have time management discipline. I am taking this course alongside two hard courses, International Business and Business Finance, and if I did not properly plan out my schedule during the week, I am not sure how I would stay on top of my coursework. 2) Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this? o     A moment I definitely have felt like giving up was during my first finance exam. It was very stressful studying for this class alone, and I had to get all my blogs done a week in advance in order to devote ...

Figuring out Buying Behavior No. 1

Figuring Out Buying Behavior No. 1 Selecting a Segment: o     For my interviews I chose to select two students who regularly go to Library West and spend hours studying there and also one student who doesn’t prefer going to Library West for studying and asking for their outside onion. The first student I chose to interview, Daniella, go to West almost every day to study for her rigorous courses. She is a third year Marketing major and is currently applying to be a part of the dual MBA program at UF. My next student, Victoria, is a third year Journalism major who commonly goes to West as well for her assignments. My last interviewee who doesn’t attend West as often, Valeria, is a third year Speech Pathology major who has a very busy and active schedule.  Conclusion from Interviews : o     What I learned from listening to these three students is they all expressed one common element, everyone loves the booths. Even the student, Valeria, who do...

Idea Napkin No. 1

Idea Napkin No. 1 1) Who you are you? What your talents are. What your skills and experiences are. Also: what are your aspirations? Specifically regarding your business concept, how do you see this business (if you were to start it) playing a role in your life? o     My name is Sydney Hoyo and I am a second-year transfer student at the University of Florida. My background includes lot of time spent in the food industry, more specifically, the restaurant business. My time being in this environment has allowed me to learn management systems as well as really be able to identify what customers need and tend to search for in different situations o     My aspirations are to eventually open my own business one day and grow alongside my business and learn new things everyday about the industry I end up in o     If I could start this business venture, I think it would make a huge impact on the general population of UF students who choose to ...

Elevator Pitch No. 1

Testing the Hypothesis, Part Two

Testing the Hypothesis, Part Two ·        Who : Throughout my interviews, I began to analysis who would be considered “outside” of my market. At first, I thought this would be difficult to point out because I believed many people around me had this, which they do, but there is a broader group of people to look at. After listening to one interviewee and asking her opinion on Library West adding more selections of booths, she simply told me she doesn’t even study at Library West. o     This is a group of people I did not originally look at. Along with two other people I chose to interview they told me they do not go to West because their group likes to gather and meet up at Newall or Marston Library.  o     Another interviewee expressed to me they don’t automatically search for a booth at West because they enjoy going to the study rooms or the big tables on the fourth floor. ·        Wh...

Solving the Problem

Solving the Problem My opportunity is to add more booths to Library West for students to use. The product in mind to potentially solve this issue is more booths or something of this sort to add into Library West. I believe that Library West is very large and has lots of sections that may not crowded normally. Within these sections on different floors, West can make the addition and add the booths. Additionally, we can spread out the booths on different floors based on noise levels so those who would like to collaborate and talk to those would who like to work quietly can enjoy the same quality of studying. I think this opportunity will benefit many students at large and could potentially make more students feel more motivated to go to the Library and get their work done.

Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

Library West is in Need of More Booths 1.       The opportunity I choose to talk about throughout the duration of this course is the potential addition of booth in Library West. Every day, Library West is occupied by thousands of students who all ultimately have the same goal: to sit in a booth. Many students, my friends included, often complain how they want a booth at west and find it distracting when they sit somewhere else and wait around for a booth to become available. -         The Who: UF Students -         The What: More booths for students to use at Library West -         The Why: Students have shown to perform better and be more motivated when working in a booth for long time periods 2.       Hypothesis -         Testing the Who: I think a large portion of those who choose to ...
